Buxton is a leader in consumer analytics, helping businesses understand who their customers are and where to reach them. They needed a scalable data engineering solution that would let product managers spin up customer-facing data products without writing code.
What We Built
We developed full-stack data pipelines using Node.js and three Google Cloud Platform APIs: BigQuery, Google Drive, and Google Sheets. The system pulls data from BigQuery, transforms it, and pushes results into Google Sheets—all orchestrated through a configuration-driven interface that product managers can update without touching the codebase.
Engineering Highlights
API integration at scale. We wrote custom Node.js services that coordinate BigQuery queries with Google Drive file management and Sheets data population. The architecture handles authentication, rate limiting, and error recovery across all three APIs.
Configuration-driven pipelines. Product managers adjust spreadsheet configs to create new data products on demand. No code changes required—the system reads configuration files and routes data accordingly.
99.9% data reduction. Our SQL engineers aggregated massive BigQuery tables down to compact, demo-ready datasets. This enables Buxton to showcase big data capabilities without the associated compute costs.
Tableau Delivery
We partnered with Buxton’s design and product teams to create over 100 Tableau workbooks. Every visualization matched pixel-to-pixel with their brand guidelines across desktop and mobile. We presented progress to product and executive teams on a bi-weekly cadence.
