Making Alteryx Workflows Production-Grade
Designer makes it easy to build a workflow; it does not make it easy to build one that survives handoff. The tuning work we do most often:
- Stream, don’t stage. Removing stray Browse tools and intermediate outputs that force full data materialization.
- Filter early, join late. Pushing row and column reduction to the front of the workflow so joins and sorts operate on the smallest possible data.
- In-database tools where the data lives. Rewriting pull-everything-then-filter patterns with In-DB tools so the warehouse does the heavy lifting instead of a laptop.
- Macros for repeated logic. Converting copy-pasted tool clusters into batch and standard macros with documented inputs, so a fix happens once instead of eleven times.
